Travel Stokvel Club

My School: Tharabulo High School Palm Springs in Vaal

My school initiative is to encourage a culture to travel within black communities in townships. The whole idea is to give parents of learners in my school an opportunity to experience travel time-out for mind, body and spirit to be recharge.

Stokvels clubs have been part of South Africa since the 19th century and the main goal of stokvel clubs was to save up for funerals cause funerals in black communities are a costly affair. But nowadays stokvel clubs have evolved to a group mostly women meeting once a month and a set amount is collected and dispersed to one member on a rotating bases.
So my school stokvel travel club set-up will be as follows as an example; if the club has forty members each contributing R200 every month and those amounts are collected and dispersed to one member on a rotating basis as a travel package.

The idea comes from my school learners who’ve observed their parents struggle day in and out to put food on the table and to put them through school. So my school learners have identified how vital their parents need to experience travel time-out to recharge.
My school travel stokvel club will operate as a travel enterprise/agency that will manage club members’ contributions (moneys) and offer them affordable travel packages
